The performer arranges percussion instruments in a complete circle around themself (any number and any kind of instrument, so long as they form a circle and at least one xylophone is included). The performer hits each instrument in clockwise succession at a fast, metronomic pace, enough to get dizzy, for 30-38 seconds (with multi-pitched keyboard instruments, hit only one pitch/chord/cluster before moving on to the next instrument in succession). After this duration, the performer immediately turns to a xylophone installed in the circle and plays the Porgy and Bess xylophone excerpt at tempo (ca. 25 seconds).
